County Durham & Darlington NHS Foundation Trust is a consortium of 10 NHS trusts, Foundation Trusts, Primary Care Trusts and HM Prisons in the North-East of England.
Wax Digital’s fully integrated source-to-pay solution web3 (named Cardea in this application) provides CDDFT with complete control over £350 million annual spend. Cardea is currently accessed by over 7,000 users and 3,000 active suppliers.
Core features of this project include:
- Implementation of a ‘once only’ approach to purchasing across all organisations eliminating duplication, reducing spend and removing inefficiency
- Compliance in clinical pathways and front line services with the integration of back office purchasing and processes and contracts with clinical requirements

Thorntons eSourcing |
Thorntons is a £180m turnover retailer with nearly 400 shops and cafes and around 200 franchises together with internet, mail order and commercial services.
Wax Digital managed a series of highly successful sourcing events for Thorntons, advising on all aspects of supply-chain engagement and event construction, and conducting tenders and auctions using the Wax Digital eSourcing platform. Thorntons has subsequently invested in self-service access to the Wax Digital eSourcing solution, calling on Wax Digital consultants to assist in event management as required. Core features of this project include:
- Self-service access for setup and management of electronic tender and auction events
- Unlimited users and events for a single annual fee
- Wax Digital consultancy services on call for assistance with event construction and management as required
